• Hey Everyone I have a concern! I'm so worried that my favorite band in the whole entire world (Metric) is going to become totally commercial. On the one hand I'm stoked that they're becoming more popular, but then I'm worried that that carries a whole bunch of baggage and that they're going to change! Please reassure me that they're not!

They already did. You must not have been around for that long. But they're always changng, that's what they do.

Disagreed! They're still putting doing what they want before doing what pays most - as of late, conveniently, the two have tended to coincide. At least that's the impression I'm getting from countless interviews.

They're just not the same scrappy twenty-somethings playing "Succexy" to smokey, sweaty bars nourished by coffee and protein bars - because remember, "a protein bar is NOT a meal!" They've progressed and matured and changed, like people do, and I think their sound reflects that. As much as I'd have loved to have seen them in their dingy bar show days, I'm just happy they're succeeding and seem to be happier for it!

They'll never be stagnant and I think the key is just embracing it. That, and being reassured that the the talent of these four people isn't the thing that's changing.

Oh, I wasn't saying they went commercial. I just said they changed. I feel the same way you do :P

In that case, approved haha!

A majority of there songs are about not conforming to what's become socially expected.

While many people do conform to such things, there is a large amount of people who don't and I'm sure they listen and relate to the music Metric creates.

This band is simply raising awareness for issues we think we're alone in.

This is just my opinion, but i think the ability to relate to their messages has gained them popularity. So, maybe we're not as alone as we think. Plus, they're fucking amazing.

If they are moving in the direction of commercialization, it's not them that's changing.

That being said, I hope more people become aware through their music. Maybe then, we all wont feel so detached.

Natasha, that's wicked.
