• So this whole Twilight thing -

Metric fans have always been scared of loosing their beloved 'indie rock n roll band' to the many endorsements and opportunities thrown at them. Yeah, Twilight sucks major 13 year old balls, but it could be worse. At least they're not in shampoo commercials. I'm currently a student studying music, recording and music business. It is extremely difficult to make a living as an artist these days, so artists have to be more careful than ever to make sure that they get income without tarnishing their reputation, especially when they fall into the indie category. I think its great that they have this opportunity. Maybe it'll help fund the next record though.

But in my opinion, Metric has not lost their edge. They still self-released this record with amazing amounts of succsess, Emily still works with local Toronto artists like Todor Kobakov, and still gets help from Deco Dawson to turn their music into short films. Metric is combining art with music which is beautiful. Over the last 7 years, i've seen Metric go from tiny little bars to theatres and stadiums, with their everchanging fan base. But theyre still the same people. Emily is still the same chick that you see sprawled on the ground on youtube videos. Never forget where they came from. They deserve all this attention. Besides, the Twilight soundtrack actually has a pretty decent lineup with Black Keys, Vampire Weekend, Muse (is that good? maybe.) and loads of other indie artists.

    I'll always love you Metric.
