• Question of the day: With festival lineups being announced this time of the year, who would play at your ultimate festival? How long would it be, where, what bands, etc.

Oh if only I could build a festival in real life! I would have to make it three nights I think, and I'd hold it somewhere in Manitoba so I wouldn't always have to go so ridiculously far for a music festival!

The line-up would be extensive and predominantly Canadian. A headliner would definitely be Broken Social Scene, but with ALL of their members, as each of them would bring their own individual bands to play too. Because how amazing would a festival be if it could host BSS and encapsulate Metric, Stars, Feist, Apostle of Hustle, Land Of Talk and all the others...plus solo performances by Kevin Drew and Jason Collett for sure.

I'd also love to see Canadians Tegan and Sara, Said The Whale, Mother Mother, Zeus, Coeur de Pirate, Wolf Parade, The New Pornographers, as well as the Arkells and Hey Rosetta! (the last two especially I've heard are fantastic live - I'd love the chance to see them!)

To indulge more international music tastes, I'd love to see Phoenix play (I suppose they could headline a day too), as well as The XX, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Jet, Kaiser Chiefs (who I did see at a festival and were the liveliest performance, hands down), Regina Spektor, Rilo Kiley, Cat Power, An Horse, and Amy Winehouse, for one out of left field. She was supposed to play Cochella last year and withdrew; I think she's absolutely insane but also very musically gifted. She can be the last ill-fitting headliner.

Hmm, looking back that's less of a good festival group and more of a list of bands I'd like to see play live...and I didn't even get into the legendary performers who would show up to perform with the groups (hello Emily Haines and Bob Dylan singing "Don't Think Twice, It's Alright"!) And I know that every time I look at a music festival line-up I find at least three or four more bands I'd want to add to this list! It would be a glorious festival indeed.

I like this question.

My lineup would look something like this:

METRIC
No Doubt
Sonic Youth
Cat Power (Only the stuff from the 90's)
The Kills
Yeah Yeah Yeahs (Definatly not the new record)
White Rabbits
Sebastien Grainger
Sublime (I wish)
BSS
Amy Millian
Liars
Julie Doiron
annnnnd Erics Trip

Very nice question, Briggins. You're so creative.

Alex, it looks like you've got your festival all figured out kudos.
