LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS. Emily > > > > > Glenn Beck. Always and forever.
Wow I love Metric so much more for this.
It's worth mentioning that the clip is actually from "Too Little Too Late". It's funny because Beck's legal team got it wrong. Shouldn't they at least know what song they're playing on their show?
Mercury Arts sidestep seems fishy. They produce/syndicate (via Premiere Radio Networks) The Glenn Beck Program not operate the stations which hold ASCAP licenses. So while the blanket ASCAP license does cover the radio stations royalty obligations for such incidental air play, it doesn't necessarily give Mercury Art's permission to cut their intros to your track in the content that they produce and then sell on to the stations... Hence their ducking under the station's licences and their without prejudice decision to stop using the bed.
Anyway, job done, usage stopped. But still they shouldn't have used it in the first place and my guess is they know it!
Well done Thomas! Ugh, Metric for Glenn Beck...that just sits wrong and everybody knows it. As always, happy to see Emily and the rest of the band putting the integrity of their music first. I was glad they shared the whole thing with us too - and took the time to follow through on correspondence with a (rightfully!) concerned fan.
Of course, the track is "Too Little Too Late"...like Eric mentioned, seems a bit off that Beck's legal team didn't even have that right. Just glad to see ANY trace of Metric gone from that terrible, bigoted man's program!
Well, actually, the legal team only had it incorrect because the person who alerted management had the song wrong. But, minor details. The day is once again decent now that Metric does not have any belongings to the spreading of ignorant and unjustified hatespeak.

Cool interview with Emily on ASCAP site (from Aug. 2010) about track usage: http://www.ascap.com/playback/2010/08/Radar_Report/PilgrimsProgress.aspx
